The University of Alabama has aligned resources to further support the ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship on the UA campus and in the Tuscaloosa area. This partnership is a collaboration between UA’s Office for Research and Economic Development and the Culverhouse College of Business. The new arrangement allows for better synchronization of events and activities that grow and nurture entrepreneurs. UA has two incubators, The EDGE and EDGE Labs, one is for student and community startups, and the other is for technical startups.
The EDGE Tuscaloosa's Home for Startups
The EDGE is a partnership with the University of Alabama, the West Alabama Chamber of Commerce and the City of Tuscaloosa. Resources from all three groups come together to help grow a vibrant ecosystem that supports entrepreneurship, business growth, and personal enterprise. |

EDGE Labs features wet labs and equipment necessary for new businesses requiring state-of-the-art wet lab space. EDGE Labs also provides technical infrastructure that helps UA faculty, researchers, and students develop and test processes and prototypes that can be translated into products for the marketplace. |
